Is the external of a garage door covered by strata insurance?

Is the external of a garage door covered by strata insurance?

Damage was done by an unknown vehicle, and we filed a police report. Does strata cover this or is this up to the resident?

The garage door's driveway is on common property.

Garage doors are generally considered permanent fixtures of the building and are typically covered under the strata building insurance policy.

Whether the garage door forms part of the common property or forms part of an individual lot depends on the registered strata plan and the boundaries of the lot. This determines who is responsible for arranging repairs and making any insurance claim.

If the damage was caused by an unknown vehicle, the strata building insurance may respond, subject to the policy terms, conditions, and applicable excess. The fact that the driveway is common property does not, by itself, determine ownership of the garage door.
