SA Question: My blind son has just rented an apartment in Adelaide CBD with a basement/garage and two floors above. The bedrooms are on the top floor.

VIC Leads on Cladding

Victoria Leads On National Approach To Cladding Insurance

Why doesn’t the Govt set aside funding to pursue culpable builders/developers to bear the costs of non-compliant and dangerous cladding materials, rather than putting the burden on totally innocent owners and forcing them to take long term loans and face a significant decrease in the market value of their properties?

Our Owners Corporation was threaten with a ‘show cause’ action by the VBA that proved to be specious and based on less than competent inspections.

Had we not fought this in every way possible to achieve a sensible resolution, our Owners would have had to endure an extremely concerning and lengthy procedure involving multiple Government and Local Government authorities

The oversight, inspection and information about what products have been used as cladding during the past 10 years when there has been a NATIONAL STANDARD is truly deficient and culpable.

Print solar panels

New solar cells offer you the chance to print out solar panels and stick them on your roof

Paul Dastoor, The Coversation
Ultimately, we imagine that these solar cells could even benefit those people who don’t own or have access to roof space. People who live in apartment complexes, for example, could potentially sign up to a plan that lets them pay to access the power generated by cells installed by the building’s owner or body corporate, and need never necessarily “own” the infrastructure outright.
NSW Tree Problems

NSW: The four-year, half-a-million dollar row over one tree

Brady Halls, 9News
The roots of a tree are blocking driveway access for two dozen elderly residents of a block of home units and villas, because the tree on the council strip has lifted not only the road and footpath but the private driveway belonging to the unit block. This has caused residents to damage their cars every time they go in and out of the garage, with vehicles scrapping the underside of the vehicles.

NSW: Have Your Say on Short Term Letting

A message from Karen Stiles, OCN:

State Member for Sydney, Alex Greenwich, has launched a petition to have short term letting debated in NSW parliament.  He needs 10,000 signatures.  They must be original signatures so people need to print, sign, and mail/drop off to his office.
We urge NSW LookUpStrata readers to sign, put up in their lobbies, and share with their committees and other lot owners.

Independent MP Alex GreenwichThere has been a strong supportive response to my petition calling for owners corporations the authority to control short term letting in their building, including to place limits beyond state controls or to ban the practice outright. If you support this approach, please sign and collect signatures. Print petition HERE.
