WA’s New Strata Regulations Are Now With Parliament

This Media Release from 20 December 2019 discussing the following key developments for the WA Strata Reforms regarding the Regulations has been provided by Landgate.

Our State’s amended strata laws and new regulations will support the growing number of West Australians who own, work or live in a strata property, as well as those looking to buy.

WA’s new strata regulations are now with Parliament

Landgate reforms regulations The week of the 20 December 2019 the Strata Titles (General) Regulations 2019, which accompany the amended Strata Titles Act 1985, were delivered to Parliament.

This milestone marks the conclusion of the consultation and drafting phase which you have played a key role in helping shape.

The regulations will now be scrutinised by Parliament and proceed through several important steps, including:

  • publication in the Government Gazette on 31 December 2019
  • tabling to the Joint Standing Committee on Delegated Legislation
  • tabling before each house of Parliament
  • allowing 14 sitting days for each house of Parliament (during which the regulations are disallowable)

A link to the published regulations is available at strata.wa.gov.au and can be accessed here: Document library. Alternatively, you can view a copy on State Law Publisher’s website after they appear in the Government Gazette on 31 December 2019.

Once the Parliamentary process for the regulations is complete, a commencement date for the amended Strata Titles Act 1985 will be announced.
