The strata reform team has an end-of-year update for you on the status of the draft Bills which we aim to deliver into Parliament in mid-2018.
We are making good progress on the drafting for community titles and leasehold strata and the safeguards for the terminations of schemes.
We have all but completed the drafting of the sections that deal with improved management, simplified dispute resolution and more flexible staged development and we’ve updated the details on the Landgate website to reflect this.
A recent change to the improved management reforms includes a streamlined process to obtain strata company approval to install sustainability infrastructure (eg solar panels) on common property.
The simplified dispute resolution page now contains information of an improved process for enforcing by-laws. The State Administrative Tribunal will have new powers to not only enforce by-laws but also amend or repeal unreasonable or oppressive by-laws.
We hope to be in the position to finalise the details on what information should be given to strata buyers early in the new year when we will write to you again.
