With the re-emergence of COVID 19 in some areas of Queensland, the Government stepping up measures to ensure that all individuals and businesses who operate within the accommodation industry adhere to the Queensland Government Tourism and Accommodation industry approved COVID Safe plan.
‘Individuals’ is emphasised above to alert owners of lots/apartments within unit strata schemes/complexes which do not have a staffed reception area or an on-site manager to manage bookings/check-ins 24/7, and those owners who manage their own rentals or do so through an online booking agency, that it is their responsibility to have in place appropriate arrangements to ensure compliance with the Queensland Government Tourism and Accommodation industry approved COVID Safe plan including, for example, screening questionnaires and record keeping strategies have been implemented.
Queensland Government requirements are changing regularly. Therefore, it is important that you regularly check the COVID-19 website and review your circumstances to ensure they are consistent with current directions.

Further, for the many owners of apartments on the Gold Coast, we reminded you that:
A rental property, regardless of whether it is used for renting to tourist or permanent residents, must be licensed with Council for rental accommodation purposes under Local Law No. 16 (Licensing). Property owners may be liable to legal action by Council for renting unlicensed premises. Local Law No. 16 enables Council to administer laws and regulations governing such issues as standards of public health as well as enabling the routine inspection of rental premises.
