This article about the solar for strata opportunity has been supplied by the Inner West Council.
The Inner West Council is working with specialist contactor Wattblock to deliver a Go Solar for Strata campaign for select multi unit dwellings within the Inner West local government area of Sydney.
With around 40% of the 200,000 residents living in strata titled properties, which is common for inner city areas, Council is keen to help these properties overcome the barriers to benefitting from rooftop solar. Multi unit dwellings have a very low solar uptake at under 1%, compared to around 22% for freestanding houses in NSW.
The Go Solar for Strata program has targeted over 220 properties that will give the best payback for solar for common areas, individual apartments, shared uses and embedded networks. To prepare the list we have reviewed building age, orientation, roof type, building services and property size and have marked them on a google map with SP listing, address and external photo.
On offer is a free independent solar feasibility report and strata committee support through the process to successful candidates.
The Council is keen to maximise participation in this program and will be running an information webinar for Inner West residents on Thursday October 22nd from 12 -1 pm. Registration is via eventbrite.
Program registrations will close on November 30th. Owners Corporations, Strata Committee representatives, strata or facilities managers are invited to apply.
